Frequently asked questions

What is a Paddock Blade?

Paddock Blade has quickly become Australia's favourite tow behind horse paddock cleaner designed specifically to clear paddocks of horse, cow, sheep, and alpaca manure. It also does a great job picking up rocks, sticks, and leaves. When reversed into trailer mode it can also be used to carry bales, bowsers, rocks, logs , jumps and any other heavy items up to 500KG around your property with ease

How do you empty it?

The Paddock Blade has six handles around the side and rear, and a bar at the front to make emptying quick and easy. Once you have done your paddock cleaning and filled it up to the desired level, simply tow your Paddock Blade over to your poo pile, unhitch it and lift and tip it from the back, side or front to raise and tilt. Alternatively, you can keep a shovel, rake or brush at your poo pile to empty the contents in a few seconds. Whatever method you choose it will save you hours of time and effort every single week.

Why is the red one cheaper?

The Standard Red is our signature horse poop scooper colour and our most popular option. All other colours are made to order, so they cost more to produce. Some customers want their Paddock Blade to match their farm equipment or even their gum boots. All Paddock Blades do the same job. Your choice of colour is entirely up to you!

Will it work on my property/terrain?

The Paddock Blade horse manure collector is manufactured for Australian conditions and has been rigorously tested to ensure it’s up the task for any horse property! It’s designed to work on flat, hilly, grassy, rocky and undulating terrain. The only difficulty terrain it will not work on is sand or light sandy like soil, aswell as exceptionally wet or boggy areas.

How effective is it on different sized properties?

Many of our customers find that paddock cleaning is reduced from a job that usually takes hours to only minutes, saving tons of hard work in the process and giving them more time with their horses! With its tow behind design, your Paddock Blade can be used on any size property, from the hobby farm to the commercial operation.

How fast does it clear per acre?

The Paddock Blade has been put through its paces by our team and our customers. You can check out what they think of Paddock Blade in our reviews page.

An acre can be cleared of manure in only 10 minutes. Not only do you save time, you’re no longer toiling in the harsh sun and struggling with a rake and wheelbarrow. Manure collecting becomes a breeze!

How does it work?

Designed by horse people for horse people, we know that you want a tool that’ll not only work, but be easy to use. To use your Paddock Blade, simply hitch it to your vehicle, tow and collect. It will automatically adapt itself to keep a tight ground plane to any surface and at any angle. Whatever you are using to tow it with needs to be able to travel at 15-20kmh comfortably for the best results. Now you can sit back and enjoy the ride!

Is it safe?

We have spent hundreds of hours rigorously testing and developing our horse poo picker. Paddock Blade is engineered to be perfectly safe when used as intended and for purpose. As when operating any equipment, follow all safety instructions and consider your own physical limitations when lifting or manoeuvring heavy loads.

Does it pick up rocks?

The Paddock Blade is a true paddock cleaning tool! Many of our customers buy one for clearing rocks and all of them are happy with the fantastic results! Our paddock cleaner will also pick up sticks, leaves and organic debris. Just about anything making a mess of your paddocks can be scooped up quickly and efficiently with Paddock Blade!

Does it work in long grass?

Paddock Blade will work well in grass up to 15cm. It gets difficult to see where the manure is when the grass gets any longer than this, and therefore it becomes difficult to aim at.

Who should buy one?

Just about anyone in the agricultural world! Any person who owns or manages animals that produce manure should consider investing in their own Paddock Blade! While it’s designed for horse manure pickup, the Paddock Blade is also sought after for its variety of other uses. To put it simply, if you have mess to pick up, then the Paddock Blade is the solution for you!

What are the benefits?

The benefits of your own Paddock Blade are life changing! It saves you hours of your precious time every time it is used – reducing the time you’d usually have to spend picking up manure by at least one-third. Your horses will be happier and healthier as they’ll have a cleaner environment. It’s also a fun machine to use and work with! The Paddock Blade will alleviate all those aches and pains caused by the arduous backbreaking task of using a rake and wheelbarrow. Long-term, it can help prevent repetitive strain injuries on your back, neck, shoulders and arms.

What are the limitations?

We take immense pride in offering you a product that performs as promised. Our commitment to quality design and engineering has produced a product that can be used on 95% of terrain, requires zero maintenance and will last you a minimum of 10 years. However, like any product, it does have its limitations and we are always open and honest about these. The Paddock Blade won’t perform well on sand arenas or menages. It also shouldn’t be used immediately after rain. Let the ground dry first for best results.

Are there any others uses?

In tow mode, your Paddock Blade will efficiently collect manure, rocks, sticks, leaves and other organic debris. Some of our customers use their Paddock Blade entirely for clearing rocks and tidying up their property.
In trailer mode, your Paddock Blade can also be used to carry heavy loads, up to 500kg. Bales, bowsers and any other heavy items that you can think of (up to half a tonne in weight) can be moved easily by Paddock Blade.

Very good product and very happy with it!

Just got ours last week, delivery was spot on and they left it where I could pick up the pallet with my tractor. We used it the first day. Easy to set up and worked amazingly! Wish we would have got this a few years ago for all our pastures. We are in Wisconsin so a lot of winter poo to pick up finally that the snow is gone. We were able to clean up over 2 acres of pastures in 4 hours. We can now keep up very easily with all our animals and leave minimal damage to our pastures. I questioned spending this kind of money but with the reviews that were great and it’s a solid product I went for it. You will never need another one so spend the extra money and get a great product that works for the long run. We are very happy and it’s very easy to use the kids take it out each morning or afternoon for a clean up on the 4 wheeler and it’s done in no time. Very happy with it and it will give us more time to attend to other things on the farm now.

Thank you for your glowing review! We are thrilled to hear that our Paddock Blade has made such a positive impact on your farm TJ!

We take pride in providing a high-quality product that's American made, is easy to use and built to last. We are happy to hear that it has saved you time and made pasture maintenance more manageable. Thank you for choosing Paddock Blade and happy paddock cleaning TJ!

I Love my paddock blade!

I Love my paddock blade! I bought this specifically for my hilly paddocks and it works beautifully! It flows right over my hills and picks up just as well as it does on flat land. I also love the size. It is small enough to work in my smaller paddocks that bigger tractors can't turn around in as well, yet it is big enough to handle my bigger paddocks as well. The company is family owned. When you buy from them, you are not left alone. I actually had the privilege of having an owner visit my farm and show me how to use the blade. You just unpack it, hook it up and go. There is no set up. That is what I call customer service! I am super happy with this purchase. Pictures are of my girls having fun cleaning paddocks. Imagine that!

The Paddock Blade has become a necessary tool

We bought the Paddock Blade initially to just clean up for our horses but it has now been invaluable while moving around the hay rolls in the damp paddocks.
The Paddock Blade has become a necessary tool in the wet and has saved many a roll from being ruined as we feed through the winter. It's sturdy construction has allowed it to take the weight of the 5 and 6 foot hay rolls and it passes wasilty over the wet ground while towing.
I would recommend the Paddock blade in any climate and it hasn't let us down.

My husband was a non-believer!

I just got my made in the U.S., Paddock Blade and I had a blast using it for the first time today. My husband was a non-believer. He was certain it wouldn't work so he watched me try it out. In the donkeys paddock alone I estimated there was a full 2 hours of hand mucking for one person. I tossed the pull ring over the quad hitch and drove over the piles and BINGO! Everything I drove over got scooped right up! My hubby was both grateful and impressed 😃 (did I mention I love being right? 😉) The only time I had to get off the quad was to dump it. I am 65 years old and I repeatedly dumped it with no problem. i simply drove it up next to my manure pile, dumped it over, dumped it right side up again and drove off. it also has cut out handkes on all three sides making it easy to grab.. I also have a pasture vac (which was tons more expensive) and I hands down prefer using the Paddock Blade because it was so much quicker and easier. Yayyyy!!!!

Saved me hours of labor!

After a lot of research I decided to bite the bullet and buy myself a paddock blade.
I am on 5 acres so manure removal is paramount for keeping our limited pasture healthy. Our two horses are rotated between 3 paddocks of 1 to 1.5 acres.
The old school way with a wheel barrow and fork was taking me 3+ hours every weekend to do the current paddock. I bag it up and put it out the front for locals to take for their gardens.
It is now taking me under an hour. And at least half that time is bagging it up!
A cool feature I hadn't counted on was the ability to flip it around and use it as a trailer! I pick the paddock, bag it up and then load the bags on to the Paddock Blade in trailer mode to take them out the front for people to collect.
Love my Paddock Blade, has saved me hours already.
